Campus Master Plan
Campus Master Plan
The comprehensive master planning process at the University of Missouri has been ongoing for 35 years. The university’s careful, planned approach to campus development; devotion to historic buildings; and commitment to practical renovation strategies reinforce the institution’s values and incorporate a practice of fiscal responsibility. All master plan efforts work to support the university’s mission and to continue MU’s legacy of stewardship.
The University of Missouri’s master plan was approved by the UM System Board of Curators on September 12, 2024.
Message from the President
I am very excited to present this comprehensive Master Plan for the University of Missouri Columbia campus. At its core, the Master Plan is a long-term construct for the type of land and space uses which can meet the objectives of the university. The plan is built around four main drivers:
- MizzouForward
- Honoring Our Iconic Campus
- More Than Buildings
- Prepared for the Future
This framework balances the visionary with implementable, long-term opportunities to maintain flexibility and capacity of our land assets, leverage momentum now and in the future, and will enable Mizzou to evolve as the nature of higher education changes.
