What We Do

Mizzou’s picturesque campus has long been one of its trademarks. A certified botanic garden and arboretum, Mizzou’s 1,252 acres host 45,000 students, faculty, staff and visitors daily. With close to 6,000 trees and 200-plus plant varieties planting and maintenance are a year-round endeavor.

Tending to Mizzou’s picturesque campus is Mizzou’s Landscape Services — planting, trimming, weeding, snowplowing, hauling and tidying — a small but mighty team of specialists behind and in front of the scenes. It’s a responsibility the staff of Landscape Services and Mizzou Botanic Garden take great pride in.

If you donate $25 to the Mizzou Botanic Garden, you’ll have the opportunity to name one of our campus squirrels and become a Friend of the Garden. As a Friend of the Garden, you’ll receive special benefits including the Leaflet newsletter, invitations to exclusive events, reciprocal admission to more than 360 gardens nationwide, and other member perks.

Blair Crosby Named Certified Grounds Manager

Blair Crosby, Assistant Director of Landscape Operations, has completed the Certified Grounds Manager (CGM) Program, one of the premier professional development programs in the Green Industry. He is the 195th Grounds Management Professional nationwide to successfully complete the program. (Director Joe Kovolyan is the 163rd professional to complete the program.)

Having two CGMs at one institution is rare, and the designation represents far more than a certification, it reflects a high level of professionalism, a strong national peer network, and an ongoing commitment to continued education and excellence in the field.

Mizzou Botanic Garden

When you think of a registered botanic garden, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s the Missouri Botanic Garden in St. Louis or the Smithsonian Gardens in Washington, D.C. What you might not know, however, is that there’s a botanic garden right beneath your feet. The Mizzou campus was established as a certified botanic garden in 1999.
