Explore the Mizzou Botanic Garden at your own pace with our self-guided trails, designed to connect you with the beauty and benefits of the natural world. Whether you’re here for learning, reflection, or a relaxing walk, each trail offers something unique.
The Mizzou Botanic Garden offers four self-guided tree trails, each with its own unique floral settings and varieties of trees. Here are the descriptions for each trail:
- Healing Hike
- A self-guided trail designed for relaxation, reflection and exploring nature on the University of Missouri campus. It offers a peaceful, roughly hour-long route suitable for students and staff to manage stress, serving as a nature-based solution. Download our printable PDF to get started on your healing hike.
- Jesse Hall Loop
- Starting on the southwest side of Jesse Hall, this loop is a scenic walking trail featuring 50 identified trees, making it the longest of the Show Me Mizzou central campus loops. It circles Francis Quadrangle and offers a tour of Mizzou’s most iconic landmarks, including the Columns.
- Lowry Mall Loop
- Beginning on the west side of Lowry Mall near Ellis Library, the loop offers a short but vibrant tree walk that features 29 labeled trees surrounded by a wide assortment of ornamental plants. Along the path, visitors will encounter a blend of exotic species and Missouri natives.
- Memorial Union Loop
- Starting on the west side of Memorial Union, this is the shortest tree trail route in the Mizzou Botanic Garden. It is designed to be easily accessible for visitors who rely on wheelchairs or have limited mobility. The trail highlights the beautiful magnolia trees which fill the area with seasonal colors.
