Noyes Hall

Designed in 1922 by the St. Louis firm Jamieson and Spearl and constructed the following year, this building stood at 408 South 6th Street on the Mizzou campus. Located just off the north side of Francis Quadrangle, it occupied a prominent place within the university’s historic core. Named after Guy Lincoln Noyes, Dean of Medicine, the building honored his contributions to the university’s medical program and academic development. After nearly a century of use, it was demolished in 2022.

  • In 1946, during a postwar housing shortage, the University of Missouri placed Quonset huts and trailers near Noyes to accommodate increased campus demand.

  • The building served as a hospital facility, supplementing Parker Hall in treating patients, including in the years following World War I.

  • In 1951, it underwent significant renovations, including a roof expansion to create additional interior space.
