Space Utilization Inventory Survey

The University of Missouri conducts an annual space utilization survey to maintain a comprehensive and accurate inventory of all university-managed spaces. This survey plays a critical role in meeting federal reporting requirements, supporting institutional planning, and ensuring responsible management of campus resources. Information gathered is used in the National Science Foundation’s Survey of Research Facilities, federal compliance reporting—including the Facilities & Administration (F&A) Proposal—and in disclosures to our Bond Council for bond-funded spaces.

Although the survey system remains open throughout the year for departments to make updates as needed, the annual reporting period occurs each year from August through October. During this time, all departments are required to review and confirm the accuracy of their space data to ensure it meets the standards necessary for annual reporting and potential federal audits.
